FAQs

Common questions about Karuna Yoga Journeys.

What can I expect from a Karuna Yoga Journey?

Our retreats are more than yoga holidays. They are immersive wellbeing experiences combining yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, nourishing food, nature, adventure and time to simply pause and reconnect with yourself. Each journey is thoughtfully curated to help you return home feeling rested, inspired and renewed.

Do I need to be an experienced yogi to join a Karuna Yoga Journey?

Absolutely not. Our retreats welcome all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Practices are adapted so that everyone can participate at their own pace, with options and modifications offered throughout. You don’t need to be flexible, strong or able to do a handstand — just come with an open mind.

What makes Karuna Yoga Journeys different from other yoga retreats?

Karuna means compassion, and that sits at the heart of everything we do. Our journeys weave together yoga, ancient wisdom, holistic wellbeing and meaningful travel, while allowing space for connection, laughter, adventure and genuine rest. We choose beautiful, soulful locations and create intimate experiences where you can feel held, nourished and part of a community.

Is Karuna registered with the Yoga Alliance?

Leyla is registered as a 500hr E-RYT, having completed her first 200hr in 2009. She is a Continued Education Provider (CEP). The Karuna Teacher Training syllabus is registered and recognised by Yoga Alliance.

I’m travelling alone — will I feel comfortable coming on my own?

Yes. Many of our guests arrive solo. You’ll be welcomed into a warm, supportive community from the moment you arrive, and there is never any pressure to socialise constantly. There is space for connection and space for yourself. Many of our guests come as strangers and leave having made friendships that last long after the journey ends.
