A journey into the wild — Uganda. Where yoga, nature, stillness and adventure meet beside the mighty River Nile.
Join Leyla at Anyadwe House, Murchison Falls, 17–21 March 2027.
Anyadwe House is an exclusive guest villa nestled along the southern bank of the mighty River Nile, bordering Murchison Falls National Park.
The name Anyadwe comes from the local Acholi language and means “daughter of the moon.” The name was given by local tribes to Florence Baker, wife of the historic explorer Samuel Baker. Together, they spent many months exploring this region of the Nile in the 1880s, in what is now Murchison Falls National Park.
Florence was revered by the local communities, who named her Anyadwe because her pale skin and long, fair hair were said to be as beautiful as the moonlight. She was also known for sitting beneath the clear African night sky, gazing up at the moon.
Today, Anyadwe House is an intimate, eco-conscious safari-style retreat set within a natural expanse of private grassland that gently sweeps down towards the Nile. Magnificent views stretch both upstream and downstream, creating an extraordinary sense of space, peace and connection to the landscape.
The house has four luxurious en-suite double or twin bedrooms, each with its own private balcony, as well as two beautifully furnished safari tents for those wanting an even closer connection to the wild.
There is a spacious ground-floor lounge, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a bar and an upper-level yoga shala with a terrace opening onto a large patio overlooking the river.
There is nowhere you need to rush to here.
Stroll beneath the trees. Lose yourself in a daydream. Read in a quiet corner. Snooze in the shade. Cool off in the pool. Watch the river drift by.
And as night falls, let the sounds of the African bush become your soundtrack.
Bamboo Village
Alongside Anyadwe House, Murchison Falls Bamboo Village forms an integral part of our retreat experience. Set within more than 20 acres of beautiful Ugandan savannah, Bamboo Village offers another opportunity to immerse ourselves in the landscape and experience the magic of Murchison Falls from a different perspective.
Surrounded by birdsong, wildlife and the gentle sounds of the river, this gorgeous eco-conscious space invites us to slow down, reconnect with nature and settle more deeply into the rhythm of the land.
Imagine stargazing meditations beneath the African night sky, Yoga Nidra beside the river and Blue Lotus Tea Rituals at the water’s edge.
Bamboo Village was created from a deep love for Uganda’s extraordinary natural beauty, with a thoughtful, sustainability-conscious approach to accommodation that allows guests to experience the savannah in comfort while remaining deeply connected to their surroundings.
A beautiful option for single occupancy
For those who prefer the privacy of their own room, Bamboo Village offers beautiful private Savannah Cottages, giving you your own peaceful space while remaining very much part of the retreat experience.
Leyla will also be staying at Bamboo Village, so this creates a lovely opportunity to spend time together there as part of the retreat.
The cosy Savannah Cottages feature wonderfully comfortable beds, private bathrooms, hot and cold water, Wi-Fi and spectacular outdoor nature showers. Each cottage has its own balcony with lounge chairs overlooking the savannah — the perfect place for morning coffee, an afternoon pause or simply watching wildlife pass by.
Park View and River View cottages are also available.
This isn’t simply alternative accommodation. It is another way of experiencing Murchison — with more space, privacy and an intimate connection to the wild landscape.
