The biggest thing I learned from this training which I didn’t know before was the power of suffering, we suffer through little things. I always think of suffering as something big, not knowing that small things bring us suffering as well. I have also learned that yoga changes you to be a spiritual healer.
I was born in Juba – South Sudan in 1993.
We first came as a refugees in 2000 where my family and I settled in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya then we moved back to South Sudan in 2009 when there was peace but after three years the South Sudanese started fighting again so we had to look for safety and somewhere I could continued with my studies. So then my family went to Uganda as refugees where they are still now. I was brought to Kenya by a Czech lady whom I met in South Sudan when she was working with the UN, she introduced me into yoga in May 2014.
My life before yoga was something very different from today, I didn’t know how to control my anger before, I could fight immediately if someone annoyed me.
I used to feel isolated from people because of where I come from, my social status, my education status my skin color but now I have learned that we are all the same no matter where your from.
Thank you.
